Quranic Verses for Children’s Healing

January 4, 2026 By Hassan Mukhtar

Reviewed & explained by experienced Quran educators

arent reciting Quranic verses for a child’s healing and protection

Healing a child—physically or emotionally—is every parent’s deepest concern. In Islam, the Quran is a source of shifa (healing), mercy, and reassurance for believers. While medical care is essential, the Quran nurtures the heart, calms fear, and strengthens tawakkul (trust in Allah).

Below are authentic Quranic verses and surahs commonly recited by parents for their children’s spiritual healing and protection.

Quranic Verses for Children’s Healing

Allah reminds us that true healing comes from Him:

1. Allah Alone is the Healer

English Translation:
“And when I become ill, it is He who cures me.”
Reference: Surah Ash-Shu‘ara (26:80)

2. Healing as a Divine Sign from Allah

English Translation:
“Then eat from all the fruits and follow the ways of your Lord made easy for you. There emerges from their bellies a drink, varying in colors, in which there is healing for people. Indeed, in that is a sign for a people who reflect.”
Reference: Surah An-Nahl (16:69)

3. The Quran as Healing and Mercy

English Translation:
“And We send down of the Quran that which is healing and mercy for the believers, but it increases the wrongdoers only in loss.”
Reference: Surah Al-Isra (17:82)

4. Healing of Hearts and Souls

English Translation:
“O mankind, there has come to you instruction from your Lord and healing for what is in the hearts, and guidance and mercy for the believers.”
Reference: Surah Yunus (10:57)

5. The Quran as Guidance and Cure

English Translation:
“And if We had made it a non-Arabic Quran, they would have said, ‘Why are its verses not explained in detail? Is it a foreign Quran and an Arab messenger?’ Say, ‘It is for those who believe a guidance and a cure.’ And those who do not believe— in their ears is deafness, and it is blindness for them. Those are being called from a distant place.”
Reference: Surah Fussilat (41:44)

6. Ayat al-Kursi (Complete)

English Translation:
“Allah—there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.”
Reference: Surah Al-Baqarah (2:255)

7. Last Two Verses of Surah Al-Baqarah (Complete)

English Translation:
“The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and so have the believers. All of them have believed in Allah and His angels and His books and His messengers, saying, ‘We make no distinction between any of His messengers.’ And they say, ‘We hear and we obey. Grant us Your forgiveness, our Lord. And to You is the final destination.’ Allah does not burden a soul beyond that it can bear. It will have the good it has gained, and it will bear the evil it has earned. ‘Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we forget or make a mistake. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our Protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people.’”
Reference: Surah Al-Baqarah (2:285–286)

Quranic Verses for Children’s Healing from the Evil Eye

There are no specific verses exclusively revealed for the evil eye, but all Quranic verses are healing and blessing. Among those commonly recited are:

English Translation:
“And indeed, those who disbelieve would almost make you slip with their eyes when they hear the reminder, and they say, ‘Indeed, he is mad.’ But it is nothing except a reminder to the worlds.”
Reference: Surah Al-Qalam (68:51–52)

English Translation:
“Then return your vision twice; your vision will return to you humbled while it is fatigued.”
Reference: Surah Al-Mulk (67:4)

English Translation:
“And he said, ‘O my sons, do not enter from one gate but enter from different gates; and I cannot avail you against Allah at all. The decision is only for Allah; upon Him I have relied, and upon Him let those who rely depend.’ And when they entered from where their father had ordered them, it did not avail them against Allah at all except for a need within the soul of Jacob, which he satisfied. And indeed, he was full of knowledge because We had taught him, but most of the people do not know.”
Reference: Surah Yusuf (12:67–68)

Sunnahs of Eid al-Fitr for Kids

November 10, 2025 By Hassan Mukhtar

Muslims walking peacefully to Eid prayer carrying joy and unity.

Eid al-Fitr is a blessed day gifted by Allah after the completion of Ramadan. The Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم encouraged Muslims to celebrate it with joy, gratitude, and certain beautiful sunnahs that add meaning and spirituality to this occasion.

Below are the most well-established Sunnahs associated with Eid al-Fitr:

1. Eating Before Eid Prayer

It is Sunnah to eat on the morning of Eid al-Fitr before going to the prayer, typically dates in odd numbers.

The Prophet
“The Prophet would not go out for Eid al-Fitr until he had eaten.”
(Reported by Al-Bukhari)

2. Taking a Different Route to and from the Prayer

Ibn Umar narrated:
“The Messenger of Allah would go to the Eid prayer by one route and return by another.”
(Reported by Al-Bukhari)

This symbolizes spreading greetings, joy, and blessings among the community.

3. Performing Ghusl and Wearing Good Clothing

The Companions used to bathe, wear clean and beautiful clothes, and apply a pleasant scent before the Eid prayer.

Ibn Umar رضي الله عنه would bathe before attending the Eid prayer.

This reflects the dignity and celebration of this blessed day.

4. Going to the Prayer Walking, Calmly and Peacefully

Ibn Umar said:
“The Prophet would walk to the Eid prayer and return walking.”
(Reported by Ibn Majah)

5. Reciting the Eid Takbeer Openly

Muslims are encouraged to recite the Takbeer aloud from leaving their homes until the prayer begins:

This transforms the streets into a remembrance-filled celebration.

6. Eid Prayer Is Offered in an Open Musalla (If Possible)

Abu Saeed al-Khudri said:
“The Prophet would go out to the open prayer-ground for Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.”
(Reported by Al-Bukhari)

7. Greeting One Another With Duas

The Companions used to say to one another:

“May Allah accept from us and from you.”

This reminds us that Eid is not just a celebration, but a prayer for acceptance.

8. Bringing Women and Children to the Eid Gathering

Even those not praying (such as women in menstruation) were encouraged to attend to witness the joy of Muslims and community unity.
(Reported by Muslim)

The Eid Spirit of the Early Muslims

Eid was a time of self-reflection, gratitude, and renewed faith.

Al-Hasan al-Basri said:

“Every day in which Allah is not disobeyed is a day of Eid.”

Meaning: Real joy is in obedience and closeness to Allah.

Eid al-Fitr: A Celebration of Mercy and Unity

Eid is not merely a cultural festival. It is a moment to:

  • Celebrate completing Ramadan
  • Feel gratitude for guidance and forgiveness
  • Strengthen family and community bonds
  • Share joy with those in need

It is a day of light hearts, smiling faces, and open hands.

How to Teach Tajweed Rules to Kids

October 12, 2025 By Hassan Mukhtar

A teacher helping children learn Quran Tajweed with recitation practice.

Teaching Tajweed to children can seem challenging at first—but it doesn’t have to be!
With the right approach, you can make learning Quran pronunciation a fun, engaging, and spiritual experience.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you teach Tajweed in a way kids will love and remember.

1. Create a Clear Lesson Plan

Start by deciding how much Quran you’ll cover.
Divide the selected portion into smaller parts for each session.
This helps you create a simple, structured plan for the week or month.

2. Prepare Before Each Lesson

Before class, prepare the verses you’ll be teaching.
During the lesson:

  • Recite slowly and clearly so children can see your lips and tongue movement.
  • Make sure your Makharij (articulation points) are correct.
  • Encourage children to imitate your pronunciation while watching closely.

3. Use Audio or Video Aids

Children learn best when they listen repeatedly.
Play recordings from experienced Quran reciters, such as Al-Minshawi (Al-Mu’allim)—his recordings are slow, clear, and perfect for learners.

Have kids:

  • Listen and repeat after the reciter.
  • Practice along multiple times—at the start, middle, and end of class.

4. Encourage Active Recitation

Ask each child to recite individually.
This helps you check their pronunciation and correct small mistakes early.

You can also:

  • Let each student read one verse in turn.
  • Use facial expressions or hand gestures to show the meaning of certain verses—this helps kids remember the words with emotion and understanding.

5. Communicate with Parents

Keep parents involved!
Explain your teaching plan and suggest that children listen to the lesson at home, especially before bedtime or during family drives.

Hearing the same verses repeatedly at home helps reinforce memory and Tajweed accuracy.

6. Review the Previous Lesson

At the beginning of each new class:

  • Review the verses from the previous session.
  • Have students recite from memory (tasmee‘).
  • Focus on lengthening rules (mad) and nasal sounds (ghunnah) before moving to the new lesson.

7. Reward and Encourage

Children love appreciation!
Offer small gifts, stars, or certificates for completing recitations.

Or, give a special reward—like letting the child recite in the school assembly or during Quran time.
Positive motivation makes them love Tajweed learning even more.

8. The Power of Oral Transmission (Mushafahah)

The best method to teach Tajweed—just like in the early generations—is oral learning.
The Prophet’s Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) learned directly from hearing and imitating their teachers before Tajweed became a formal science.

So, Mushafahah (learning face-to-face) remains the most effective and authentic way for children to learn Quran pronunciation beautifully.

9. Helpful Resources

To make lessons even easier, use simplified Tajweed books such as:
📘 “At-Tajweed Al-Musawwar” by Dr. Ayman Suwaid.

It includes visual diagrams that help kids see and understand where sounds come from—perfect for visual learners.

🌙 A Gentle Reminder

Teaching Tajweed isn’t just about perfect recitation—it’s about connecting children’s hearts to the Quran.
With patience, smiles, and consistency, you’ll help them not only recite beautifully but also love the Book of Allah.

Teaching Neglected Sunnahs to Children

September 16, 2025 By Hassan Mukhtar

Muslim parents teaching children wudhu and Sunnahs before bedtime.

As Muslim parents, one of our greatest responsibilities is to instill the Sunnah of the Prophet –ﷺ – in our children’s lives. The earlier they learn, the more natural it becomes for them to practice these Sunnahs daily.

In this article, we’ll explore the forgotten Sunnahs (al-sunan al-mahjoorah) that many people have left off, and how we can reintroduce them to our kids in a simple, practical way.

What Are Neglected Sunnahs?

Neglected Sunnahs are sayings and actions of the Prophet –ﷺ – that are rarely practiced today. Reviving them brings blessings into our homes and rewards from Allah.

📖 Quran Reminder:

“Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah you have an excellent example.” (Quran 33:21)

Neglected Sunnahs in Wudhu (Ablution)

  • Saying the Shahadah after Wudhu
“I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is His servant and messenger.”
    Reference: Sahih Muslim (234)
  • Praying Two Rak’ahs After Wudhu
This is called Salat al-Wudhu. The Prophet –ﷺ – used to regularly pray two rak’ahs after performing ablution.
  • Using Water Moderately
The Prophet –ﷺ – would perform wudhu using only a small amount of water (mudd).

Neglected Sunnahs in Prayer

  • Using the Miswak Before Prayer
“If it were not that I would cause hardship for my Ummah, I would have commanded them to use the miswak at every prayer.” (Tirmidhi 22)
  • Praying Towards a Sutrah
A sutrah is any object placed in front of the praying person to prevent people from walking in front.
  • Reciting Surah Al-Kafirun and Al-Ikhlas
In the Sunnah prayers of Fajr and Maghrib, it is recommended to recite these two surahs.

Neglected Sunnahs Before Sleeping

  • Sleeping After Isha and Making Wudhu Before Bed
  • Sleeping on the Right Side and saying the dua:
“In Your name, my Lord, I lay down my side, and by You I raise it. If You take my soul, have mercy on it, and if You send it back, protect it as You protect Your righteous servants.” (Bukhari 6320)
“All praise is for Allah who gave me health in my body, returned my soul to me, and permitted me to remember Him.” (Tirmidhi 3401)
  • Washing Hands Three Times before wudhu after waking up.

Neglected Sunnahs in Clothing

  • Starting with the Right Side when wearing clothes or shoes.
  • Wearing White Clothes as it is more beloved and recommended.

Neglected Sunnahs in Eating

  • Saying Bismillah Before Eating
    If you forget, say:
“In the name of Allah, at its beginning and at its end.”
  • Praising Allah After Finishing the Meal
“All praise is for Allah who fed us, gave us drink, and made us Muslims.”
  • Rinsing the Mouth After Eating or Drinking

Final Thoughts

Reviving the Sunnah in our homes is one of the best ways to gain Allah’s pleasure and raise children who love the Prophet –ﷺ. Start with one habit at a time, make it a family effort, and watch how it transforms your daily life.
