How Many Pillars of Islam Are There?
A: There are five:
“Islam is built upon five: the testimony that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, establishing prayer, giving zakat, pilgrimage, and fasting Ramadan.”

- Shahadah – Testimony of faith
- Salah – Performing prayer

- Sawm – Fasting during Ramadan

Levels of Religion
How Many Levels Are in the Religion?
A: Three:
- Islam – outward submission
- Iman (faith) – inner belief
- Ihsan (excellence) – worshiping Allah as if you see Him
What Is Iman (Faith)?
A: Iman means believing with the heart, speaking with the tongue, and acting with the limbs. It increases with good deeds and decreases with sins.

What Is Ihsan?

Ihsan is the highest level of faith—practicing worship with deep sincerity and consciousness of Allah.
